Isi artikel
Given Indonesia's relative economic and political stability today, it is difficult to appreciate just how uncertain the future seemed immediately after Suharto's exit. One of the most pressing questions concerned the fate of Suharto and his allegedly ill-gotten wealth. Central to the demands of the proreform activists, the failure to bring Suharto and his relatives to justice for their alleged crimes remains one of the great unfulfilled promises of the reform process One of the people who seemed to have the potential to meet some of the era’s most dauting challenges was a man name Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, a Lieutenant General who had developed the reputation as being the most outspoken champion of reform in the security establishment and of peaceful and equitable civil-military relations.
