The changes of the Chinese ethnic in Indonesia are based on the diversity of individuals, place, time. The use of family names (Xing) in Chinese society is to show his identity or further details as ethnic identity or social identity. During the new order goverment, Chinese people were prohibited from using their family and also the Chinese name. The purpose of this article is to discuss the Chinese culturel viewed from the changes. The menthod used library reserch and other data which analzed descriptively. It can be concluded that the use of Chinese names, as well as ethnic identity, family names can also from a social networks and increasing solidarity because the knowledge received through the tradition will never.
