This paper aims to investigate the collocations and colligations based on the analysis of data compiled in the "Corpus de Lectura Española (CLECE). This corpus was started in 2006 and has collected appoximately 207,910 words. In the present study, we conclude that both types of combinations formed woth verbs appear more frequently in narrative texts than in expository texts. Moreover, the analysis of data extracted from CLECE demonstrates that the level of readability is associated with the frequency of Spanish as a native language. Finally, in order to provide references to enrich the design of materials for educational purposes, we consult the collocations and colligations used in Spanish as a native language, and classify them into lists according to their linguistic features.
