Isi artikelTuberculosis (TB) is a serious problem in children and recently indonesia has a big contribution in contributing to the number of TB in the world. The diagnosis of TB in children is different from adult and remains a problem which is often make pitfalls diagnosis. The diagnosis must be established by finding the Mycobacterium bacilli on microbiological examination, on the other hand, finding a representative specimen is not easy in children. Although specimens can be obtained, the mycobacterium bacilli are rarely found in direct preparations and cultures, so the diagnosis of TB in children is based on clinical signs and symptoms, history of cantacts with adult TB Patients, Mantoux tuberculin test and radiograph. Unfortunately, the symtoms of TB in children are not specific, Mantoux tuberculin test and radiograph are not always easily interpreted. Its cause difficulties and doubts in establishing the diagnosis, so the diagnostic pitfalls are often occur. A good understanding the pitfalls diagnosis. TB in children can avoid the overdiagnosis with all the consequences including the effect of therapy given.
