This study outlines work being undertaken to develop a scheme of work for science specifically for pupils with speech and language difficulties. It concentrates on the methods of adoption and adaptation of a recognized scheme available on the market. It particularly emphasizes how subjectspecific vocabulary can be built into schemes of work to enable pupils with speech and language difficulties to acquire vocabulary and scientific knowledge.
