Isi artikelConsumption of high-purine content protein in daily menu may lead to the condition of hyperuricemia (excessive plasma uric acid level). High uric acid Ievel deposited in joints and tissues causes inflammation that will increase C-Reactive Protein (CRP) and Malondialdehid (MDA) producedfom the chain reaction of lipid peroxidztion of cell membrane. Catechin in green tea extract acts as an anti-oxidant agent that neutralize free radicals and stop the chain reaction, thus, it acts as an anti-inflammation agent as well. The aim of this research was to reveal the eflect of catechin and to determine the most eflective dosage in lowering the level of uric acid, CRP and MDA in hyperuricemic white rats. Thirty six male rats were divided into six groups of six each. As a negative control group, Group I only received pellet. Group II, III, IV, V and VI were given 20 mg goat brain-acidedpellets for eight days. Group N was given 2.52 mg/kg BW Allopurinol; Group III, IV and V were given Catechin of I0,20 and 40 mg/kg BW respectively. Group VI acted as a positive control group. The level of plasma uric acid, CRP and UDA were measured at day 0, 9 and 15. The result showed that the three dosages of catechin loweredplasma uric acid, CRP andUDA level. The most effective dosage of cathecin was 40 mg/kg BW:
