In accordance with the increasing awareness of importance of in situ stress information in the sign of various geotechnical and other petroleum-related subsurface enginering in Indonesia, a complete knowladge of the in situ stress ia a fundamental requirement. Baically, complete information of the situ state of stress means both the trends and magnitudes of the principal in situ stress. some stress determination techniques can provide a complete stress tensor (e.g. differential strain analysis, DSA, method), some provide incomplete tensor (e.g. sleeve fracturing methode), and some provide nerely the directions of the principal stress.
