Extended analysis data of female sewing workers at a towel industry Jakarta was conducted in 1994 to explore factor influences their productivity. A total of 81 female workers at the sewing sector were interviewed. In addition to recalling the calorie intake within 48 hours, a physical examination, laboratory test and an observation of the product results during 4 hours (8.00 a.m. until 12.00 a.m.) were done. The results showed that 11.1% female workers did not have breakfast, 37% had breakfast containing of lower than 450 kcal, and 51.9% had breakfast for more or equal to 450 kcal. Daily calorie intake reached 82.3% from the recommended daily allowances by Widya-karya Nasional Pangan & Gizi VI 1998 (the National food and Nutrition chapter). Median calorie of breakfast groups of less the 450 kcal was 38 kcal. Median calorie of breakfast group of more than 450 kcal was 616.7 kcal. The percentage of70.4% of the total female workers studied had normal body mass index, whereas 11.1% of them had lower and 18.5% were higher than normal body mass index. The breakfast groups reached the target production four teen times bigger than non-breakfast groups. The breakfast group of more than 450 kcal reached the target productions two times bigger than the breakfast groups of less than 450 kcal. In conclusion, the study revealed that breakfast calorie showed as a deciding factor on target production among the study population. (Jurnal Epidemiologi Indonesia, 2000. 4:3: 1-8)
