Introduction Although sports are proven to be beneficial to maintain health, it also has a potential to cause some form of health problem. Musculoskeletal injury is one of many others problems that can occur. National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) in America has showed an increasing number of individual who practice some type of sport. Along with this increasing number, it is believed that an increase in the numbers of injury would also happen. This study was conducted to show the musculoskeletal injury pattern in basketball, futsal, volleyball, and badminton. Methods This study was conducted in 2017 using a cross-sectional design to show how many injuries occured over the past year, when are injuries commonly occur, what is the common type of injury, and also the locations of those injuries. Samples of this study were active members of Atma Jaya Faculty of Medicine’s basketball, futsal, volleyball, and badminton club. Members from class of 2014, 2015, and 2016 were asked to fill in a questionnaire that the researcher created. Result The prevalence of musculoskeletal injury was 76% with most cases occurred during club training session. 67.3% of all injuries were caused by trauma and 66.3% cases of injuries occur at the lower extremity. In basketball, point guards are the most frequently injured position. In futsal, wingers are the most frequently injured position. In volleyball, right hitters are the most frequently injured position Conclusion The majority of all sports clubs members have had an injury in the last 12 months with futsal club contributing the highest number of injured members. These injuries commonly occurs during training session rather than during a competitive match and the lower extremities is the most frequent site of musculoskeletal sports injury. |
