Isi artikel
The Asia-Pacific region has made considerable progress in closing the gender gap in education, particularly in primary education where gender parity was already a reality in 1999 in East and Central Asia.1 Many countries in the region are now steadily reducing gender disparity in secondary education; the Gender Parity Index (GPI) for Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) has risen from 0.96 in 1999 to 1.0 in 2006 in East Asia and the Pacifi c.2 If this trend continues, many countries in the region are likely to achieve gender parity in secondary education by 2015.
