Capatitive commutation techniques now replace optical and Hall-effect circuitry in brushless-dc motors. Capatitive sensing tecnology similar to that used in consumer electronics now find use as commutation systems for BLDC motors. In a capacitive technology elevator call buttom, a finger becomes the second plate of a capacitor with the marble top coner acting as dielectric. A sensing circuit detects the changed capacitance of the pad, Cpad, and sends the signal to call the elevators to that floor.
