Isi artikelUniversity-enterprise partnerships have become an important item on national policy agendas. Their expansion is due not only to the rapidly changing environment of higher education, but also to the emergence of knowledge economies and, with them, the growing importance of knowledge as a production factor. A relatively new phenomenon in the domain of university-enterprise linkages is the changing perception of the role of governments in the support of university-enterprise relations. Government action is increasingly seen as being a co-ordinator among academia, public research institutions and industry in order to promote interaction among them and create a friendly environment for innovation.
