Isi artikelAlthough uterine adenomyoma and endometriosis were described around the turn of the 19th century, the history of the identification of endometriosis has remained controversial and continues to confuse recent literature affecting the management of the disease. Using histologic parameters of endometrial structure and activity, the first scientist to identify the condition, under the name “adenomyoma,” was Thomas Cullen. John Sampson was the first to identify the pathogenesis of the condition.
