Background: Pathological vaginal discharge is a common gynecologic condition among women in productive age that can cause serius damage for the mother and child if occurs in pregnant women such as prematurity, premature rupture of membrane, low birthweight, chorioamnionitis, postpartum endometritis, dan postcaesarean wound infection. This study aims to determine whether theres a correlation between pathological vaginal discharge among pregnant women and pregnancy outcomes in Atma Jaya Hospital.
Method: This research was a descriptive-analitic study with cross-sectional design using the data from medical record of 126 pregnant women who undergone delivery at Atma Jaya Hospital from 2015 to 2016. Data studied consist of age, pathologic vaginal discharge case and pregnancy outcomes (prematurity, premature rupture of membrane, low birthweight, chorioamnionitis, postpartum endometritis, postcaesarean wound infection)
Result: The prevalence of premature delivery, premature rupture of membrane, low birthweight, chorioamnionitis, postpartum endometritis, postcaesarean wound infection respectively are 11,1%, 15,9%, 11,1%, 0%, 0%, and 0,8%. Based on the data analysis, there are correlation between pathologic vaginal discharge with premature delivery (p=0,069), premature rupture of membrane (p=0,001), and low birthweight (p=0,005).
Conclusions: This research found a significant correlation between premature delivery, premature rupture of membrane, and low birthweight. |
