Abstract
Jayatama Selaras is a company producing plastic containers for cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, and food and beverages. In order to meet costumers need, Jayatama Selaras needs to improve the quality of their products. This is important to do because by doing quality improvement it will reduce the mount of defective products. If the mount of defective products is low it will impact to the company revenues. The main problem that Jayatama Selaras has now is in how to determine the optimal setting for the blowing machine. The current condition now is Jayatama Selaras using trial and error in order to set the blowing machine. This require a lot of time to get the optimum machine setting. Therefore this research aims is to give an alternative machine setting. This research is using taguchi methods. Taguchi methods will determine the optimum machine settings of blowing machine for Calpico’s 100 ml milk bottle. Taguchi methods will give valuable information on significant factors of defective characteristic which needs to be fixed. The characteristic that needs to be solved is the thickness for bottles S-5 dimension. The result in the research is the optimal setting of blowing machine of Calpico’s 100 ml milk bottle. Taguchi method calculations result is that air pressure factor is the most significant effect for S-5 thickeness dimension. Air pressure is set at 6 bar level.
