Abstract
Ponggang Village, Subang, West Java is one of the villages whose people are livelihood as farmers. In the process of processing cassava chips, the producers do not perform the process of drying oil well because there is still a lot of oil left in cassava chips cause the chips to be easily expired. Therefore, the design of an spinner machine concept is useful to improve the quality of cassava chips in the household industry of Ponggang Village. The design concept is based on the desire of the user on the required function of user of cassava chips in Ponggang Village. The formation of 3 alternative concepts prepared based on the morphological chart. After 3 concepts are formed, the concept selection is done using PUGH method. The results of concept selection show that the 2nd concept was selected as the chosen concept. The working principle of this 2nd concept is to use centrifugal force for the process of draining the oil in which the instrument will rotate horizontally generated by dynamo power and also manually.Then from the calculation results obtained the design of spinner machine can accommodate a maximum weight of 25.68 kg of cassava and it used AISI type 201 stainless steel with a pull strength of 515 Mpa with a thickness of 0.8 mm material with the aim of the resulting tension will be safe Because the tension generated when the tube rotates smaller than the tension Pull stainless steel that is 0.033 MPa <515 Mpa.
