Abstract
The era of development demands higher quality of the service given. Problem of machine scheduling causes firm cant compete. PT. Dutarama Indah Setia has problem of machine scheduling on blowing machine’s department. The problem started by the case of PT.X which gave complain about order in December 2014 about 300 kilograms that wasn’t being sent till May 2014. Fishbone Diagram and 5W+1H state that the cause of PT. X is non optimal machine scheduling. The problem of machine scheduling is worsen by the making of “entrust order” outside production schedule. Machine scheduling used for this research are machine scheduling using Johnson’s Algorithm and batch scheduling. Machine scheduling is done on products with 2 kind of materials, that is HDPE/HD and LDPE/PE. There are two selections includes selection of plastic bags orders and machines used. The result of the selection are HD products have 7 kind of products will be processed, and PE’s products is 11 kind of products. HD products can be done on blowing machine 3 and 8. PE products can be done on blowing machine 4 and 7. The result of total production time using Johnson’s Algorithm for HD products is 65 hours and PE products about 62 hours. The result of total production time using batch scheduling for HD products is 64.5 hours and PE products about 62 hours. The chosen machine scheduling’s method is batch scheduling because production time received is lesser.
