Abstract
PT. Furukawa Optical Solutions Indonesia (PT. FOSI) is a cable optic manufacturing company. In 2016, PT. FOSI did not meet their cable production target. Machine breakdowns was one of the reasons for this issue and caused ineffectiveness of production time. The production loss occurred from overall breakdowns reached 2,51%. PT. FOSI categorized this condition as bad based on the company standard. It is necessary for PT. FOSI to update their maintenance system to lower the production loss. The new
maintenance system is proposed in response to the occurring problem. New proposed system includes preventive replacement and preventive examination. Age-Replacement and Block-Replacement are used to calculate the optimal replacing time for one component. It is proven that Age Replacement combined with proposed preventive examination would give better result in the subject of availability (compared to existing policy). The new proposed maintenance system inevitably consumed effective-production time. Hence, it is necessary to integrate production and maintenance scheduling to prove whether the proposed maintenance system would affect the tardiness of the overall job. Result shows that make-span would certainly be longer compared to the previous policy, but 100% of jobs still meet its due date. However, the execution time of scheduled maintenance sometimes need to be modified. This is simply to press the overall make-span. Result from the modification proved that it could lower the integrated make-span. Thus, implementation of the new proposed maintenance system could be considered in PT. FOSI.
