Isi artikel
Gregory Bateson devoted most of his life to the development of an "Epistemology of Cybernetics" and its application to the explanation of mammalian behavior. Before he heard of the concept of feedback, he had arrived at the essential ingredients of his later position. This chapter outlines how he related these ingredients-time, circular causation and hierarchical order-to each other and showed their relevance for such issues as learning and evolution.
