Now in her second term as Minister of Trade, Mari Pangestu spoke recently at the Jakarta Foreign Correspondents Club ( JFCC) regarding directions in policy. She briefed the crowd on goals for the ASEAN economic community, and how ASEAN is the backbone of Indonesia’s trade policy. She also noted that Indonesia forging closer trade relations with the U.S. was not a threat to China, and vice versa.
