Isi artikelThis studyies conducted to determine the sun protection efficacy of creams containing rutin and etil paramethoxycinnamate (EPMS) in combination by in vitro and in vivo test. The in vitro parametre was percentage of erythema transmittance (%ET), percentage of pigmentation transmittance (%PT) nad in vitro Sun Protection Factors (SPF) value whice is obataion from UV spectra profile of solution in isopropanol and etanol 909%. The in vivo parameter for efficacy was in vivo SPF value whice is obtain throught comparing the time to reach the MED on protected guinea pig skin with sunscreen and unportected skin. The result of this in vitro test for O/W crean was %ET = 6,2%; %PT = 19,58; in vitro SPF = 88,44 and for W/O cream was %TE = 6,10; %TP = 30,0; in vitro SOF =75,08. while in the in vbivo test for 24 hours observation until the UV exposed of finised. This in vivo study used guinea pig with specific criteria from this in vivo efficacy test, the in vivo SPF value obtained is 14 for O/W cream and 15 for W/O cream. In conclusion, w/o cream containing rutin and EPMS in combination has better efficacy than o/w cream.
