Stroke is the leading casue of disability in Indonesia. Half of patients with stroke will suffer from partial or total disability that leads to the loss of productivity and self-sufficiency. 46% of patient got help 24 hours after onset. This happens because lack of knowledge about symptoms of stroke. Objective. This research aims to find a correlation between stroke onset and the neurological deficit improvement on an ischemic stroke patient. Method. A retrospective cross sectional study will be used on ischemic stroke patient in Atma Jaya hospital on March 2013 throughout May 2016. Stroke onset will be divided into two groups, = 24 hour and > 24 hour. The improvement of neurological disorder was obtained from the difference of admittance NIHSS and release NIHSS score, in which divided into two groups, improved group and regressed group. The correlation between onset and the improvement of neurological disorder was analysed with chi square test. Results.Patients who fits into the criteria was found to be as much as 162. 54.3% are found to be men. The average age was found to be 58.25. Most of the patient (94.3%) suffer from mild neurological deficit in admittance. 72.2% patient gain improvement of their neurological deficit. It was found that there are correlation between stroke onset and the improvement of neurological disorder in patient with ischemic stroke(p=.0021, OR=2.260).
