Shifting the learning process from teacher centerd learning (TCL) into student centered learning (SCL) in Faculty of Psychology of Atma Jaya University, demands a higher level of autonomy towards college student. This is because in SCL, college students have an important roles in determining the learning materials and also the activity and process in learning materials. One of the factors that contribute to the establishment of an independent character in children in the presence and active participation of parents, especially father. This case, the presence and active participation can be seen from the concept of father involvement. The aims of this study are to find out an overview a level of autonomy towards college student, college student’s perceptions of father involvement, and to see whether there are any significant relationship between level of autonomy and father involvement. The respondents of this study are 364 college students who study in Faculty of Psychology of Atma Jaya University in year 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Data collection is done by using an autonomy questionnaire (Suryani, Lukito, & Apriliadi, 2015) and child version of father involvement (Pleck, in Lamb 2010) which adapted by Oktavianto, Stevina, Jessica, and Franky (2015). The results show that the college student who are in year 2012 have a high level of autonomy, in year 2013 and 2014 are mostly have a low level of autonomy, and in year 2015 mostly have a middle level of autonomy. An overview about father involvement towards college students who are in year 2012 is mostly their father are involve, in year 2013 is their father have a low involvement, in year 2014 is their father have a high and low involvement, and in year 2015 is their father have a high involvement. Another results of this study shows that there is no significant correlation between level of autonomy and father involvement. |
