Introduction: Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio (RNL) is a sensitive and specific biomarker in indicating an inflammation. Appendicitis is one of a disease that’s caused by inflammation from appendix vermiformix . Objective: To investigate the role of RNL in discriminating appendicitis and non- appendicitis. Method: This study is an analytic comparative study with a cross-sectional approach, which was conducted among 69 people with appendicitis. Results: This study showed that the median value of RNL in appendicitis (2,69 (0,68 – 92,00)) was significantly higher than non-appendicitis (1,79 (1,00 – 3,23)) NLR was found to have a role in discriminating appendicitis from non-appendicitis with the cut-off point of 2,1 (sensitivity 71%, specificity 73%, positive predictive value 71%, negative predictive value 72%) hence the NLR value ?2,1 is considered to be appendicitis. Conclusion: NLR has a role in discriminating appendicitis from non-Appendicitis. |
