Background: Indonesia, as a developing country, still has high prevalence of adolescent pregnancy. Riskesdas 2013 has reported that 73.5% of pregnancy prevalence between 10-54 years old, occurs between ages of 15-19 years old. Adolescent pregnancy without positive knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding reproductive health will cause an increase in number of maternal-perinatal mortality and morbidity. Objective: To know the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of adolescent girls regarding reproductive health related to the prevalence of adolescent pregnancy in Muara Siberut Village. Method: This study used descriptive-analytic studies with cross sectional approach. This study was conducted at Muara Siberut Village on November 22-27, 2015. The respondents were adolescent girls in Muara Siberut Village, aged between 10-20 years old. The questionnaires were about knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding reproductive health and outcome of adolescent pregnancy. Result: From 180 respondents, 42.2% adolescent girls were found to have a lack of positive knowledge of reproductive health and 98.9% had positive attitude. The percentages of adolescent girls who were reported to have experienced dating, hugging, kissing, and sexual intercourse were 69.4%, 35%, 32%, and 7.8%. Result of bivariate analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between knowledge (p value = 0,968 ; p < 0,05) and attitude (p value = 1,00 ; p < 0,05) related to adolescent pregnancy. On the other hand, there was a significant relationship between behavior regarding reproductive health, specifically dating (p value = 0,019 ; p < 0,05), hugging (p value = 0,000 ; p < 0,05), kissing (p value = 0,000 ; p < 0,05), and sexual intercourse (p value = 0,000 ; p < 0,05), related to adolescent pregnancy. Prevalence of adolescent pregnancy in Muara Siberut Village was 6.7%. Conclusion: Muara Siberut Village has the highest prevalence of adolescent pregnancy amongst regions in Sumatera province. Most of the adolescent girls were lacking of positive knowledge and had positive attitude regarding reproductive health. Concerned to that, education and socialization about reproductive health is needed, especially for parents who have daughters. Furthermore, the government in Mentawai Islands District, should make a policy towards adolescent reproductive health services. |
