Background: Mini International Neuropshychiatry Interview (MINI) and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) are instruments that are usually used for diagnosing depressive and anxiety disorders. Compared to MINI being an interview, DASS strenghtness is being a questionnaire so that collecting data by using DASS can be faster. Objectives: This study aimed to describe whether DASS can be used to replace MINI in diagnosing depressive disorder or anxiety disorder. Methods: This study is a cross sectional study. The study was conducted by interviewing respondents to determine whether they have depressive disorder and anxiety disorder by using MINI ICD-10, then respondents will fill up an DASS questionnaire. Samples will be collected from as many as 260 preclinical students of faculty of medicine at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. Data will be collected and analyzed by using Chi Square test and Reciever Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve. Results: In diagnosing depressive disorders, the result shows that the sensitivity value of DASS is 0,651, specificity value is 0,96, Positive Predictive Value is 0,80, Negative Predictive Value is 0,93, and the value of Area Under the Curve (AUC) is 0,718. Meanwhile, in diagnosing anxiety disorder, the result shows that the sensitivity value of DASS is 0,667, specificity value is 0,768, Positive Predictive Value is 0,494, Negative Predictive Value is 0,86, and the value of AUC is 0,74. This values are below the target values to be achieved. In other words, there is no significant results of DASS towards MINI in diagnosing depressive disorder and anxiety disorder. Conclusion: DASS can not be used to replace MINI in diagnosing depressive disorder and anxiety disorder. |
