Background. Daily activities have the potential to overcome injury. The proportion of trauma in Indonesia is dominated by abrasions or bruises of 70.9%. Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is a fibrin matrix consisting of cytokines, platelets, and growth factors that accelerates the wound healing process. Methods. Total of 24 Rattus norvegicus were divided into 4 groups, 2 groups were incised and treated topically with neomycin sulfate and placenta extract gel, while the rest were treated with PRF within 14 days. The collagen was evaluated on the 7th and 14th day after the rats were incised by histological analysis. Results. The average collagen amount of B1 group was 26 ± 6,733 (SEM), B2 group was 33 ± 8,165 (SEM), P1 group was 41 ± 9,241 (SEM), and P2 group was 57 ± 5,112 (SEM). The results showed the groups given PRF were significantly (p<0,05) higher than the groups given neomycin sulfate and placenta extract gel. The results were analyzed for statistical significance using one way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Conclusion. This study suggests that PRF promotes dermal collagen synthesis in wound healing process compared to neomycin sulfate and placenta extract gel. |
