The human need for paper from year to year is increasing while the papermaking raw material (logs) increasingly limited if taken continuously. Therefore, human needs to find a solution to use other raw materials for papermaking. Rice straw has similar character with logs and has abundant amount because rice straws often found as agricultural waste that can be used as raw material for paper making. Although made using other materials, paper should have good quality (not easily torn). But the problem is the rice straw has many types but still have similarities in the structure so it is necessary to study the factors that affect the results of papermaking. Recycled paper is made from rice straws by utilizing a factor in type, amount and structure and use a simple method. Then, after the recycled paper ready, recycled paper quality will be tested using the Tearing Strength Test. Results of the test form in Newton numbers showing the endurance of recycled paper before tearing. Then the impact from the type, amount, and structure of rice straw toward the quality (tear resistance) of recycled paper that had been produced could be seen using the method of experimental design and Tukey Test in the form of Tearing Strength Test. Based on the research using method of experimental design, it could be found that the type, amount, and structure of rice straw have impact the quality (tear resistance) of recycled paper. Because of these three factors affect the quality of the recycled paper then these three factors applied Tukey Test. Results from Tukey Test show that these three factors do not affect the quality of recycled paper; The structure affects the quality of recycled paper, and 30 and 40 grams of the rice straws affect the quality of recycled paper. Therefore, it can be said to be the most optimal combination is a rod structure and the amount of 40 gram |
