Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of return on equity, leverage, ownership retention, age of firm, and oversubscription on short-term and long-term IPO performances. These performances are measured with stock returns. Included in this investigation are 54 corporations that went public on the Indonesian Stock Exchange during 2011-2014. The results of this research indicate that return on equity positively affects short-term IPO performance, and short-term IPO performance positively affects long-term IPO performance. This signifies that investors pay attention to profit figures when purchasing IPO shares, and in the long run, they shift their focus toward historical prices. Other independent variables do not significantly affect IPO performances, although the effects of most of the observed independent variables become more significant as time goes on. It can be concluded that investors behave irrationally, and that Indonesian capital market is not efficrent.
