Little research attention has been paid to identifying factor:., unrelated to a child's disability, which may influence grandparent provision of support to parents of children with disabilities. This paper explores factors and characteristics found to be related to the extent to which support is a component of parent-grandparent relationships in families of children with disabilities. Twelve parent-grandparent pairs participated in in-depth, unstructured interviews. A qualitative analysis of the interviews resulted in the emergence of two major themes. Both themes related to the type of intergenerational relationship existing between parents and grandparents, rather than to the child's disability.
