If a company wants to excel, trust and satisfaction from the customer must be obtained. These trust and satisfaction can be seen from the quality and quantity of the products. PT. Kawasaki Motor Indonesia (KMI) which produces motorcycles and spare parts becomes the research object in this study. Based on field research, the author observed few problems that happened in this company. If not solved, these problems would cause losses to a lot of aspects. One of which is the late arrival of the raw materials for the production. This lateness leads to irregularity in the arrival of the suppliers’ vehicles. Thereafter, this irregularity will affect the queueing line in the PT. KMI’s parking lot. The lateness in the raw material arrival also affects the sequence in production process which in turn delays the production line. When a production line comes to a stop, it will incur costs in money, manpower and production time. Therefore, the objective of this research is to propose a new method in implementing the raw materials, determine the optimal type of vehicle, and calculate the efficiency in cost. To support this research, the author suggests a Milk Run System. This system requires the company to pick up the products based on the sequence of the routes, time and distance. After some calculations, Milk Run System results in a master route with certain criteria. Due to PT. KMI not having a personal vehicle, the calculation uses the rent of vehicles. After considering the efficiency and effectiveness of different type of vehicles, a double wheel truck is used. By using the double wheel truck, it will save a lot of cost and increase the profit of the company. As a result, the implementation of Milk Run System increases the efficiency in cost by 10%. Thus, by implementing this method, it allows PT. KMI to improve the company’s quality and quantity in terms of its productivity. |
