Corrosion of reinforcing steel is one of the most important and prevalent mechanism of deterioration for concrete structures in marine environment. The higher concentrations of salt (NaCI) and moisture can result in accelerated corrosion of reinforcing steel and significant deterioration to concrete structure. Hence.from that, a system to protect reinforcing steel is required to pursue corrosion rate. Cathodic protection, by sacrificial anode is the one way of method to protect reinforcing steel from corrosion. Galvashield is a sacrificial anode, which often use to protect reinforcing steel, but it is rarely use to protect in acid environment. This research aim to know the affectivity levels by using this sacrificial anode when protecting reinforcing steel in acid environment. By simulate acid environment and accelerated corrosion rate. According to ASTM C 876-91 criteria, Galvashield does not work properly to protect reinforcing steel in concrete structure which taken place under acid enviroment. Corrosion levels became higher day by day as long 30 days.
