Abstract
In Anaerobic digester, the function of supporting material is to help the growth of biofilm. This supporting material can be made of organic and inorganic material. The aim of this research is to investigate the ability of Imperata cylindrical and Eichorrnia crassipes to decrease the amount of Organic Compound and Suspended Solid. The method is conducted by cutting 1 cm of I. cylindrical and E. crassipes and using it as packed media to decrease the organic substances in tofu wastewater. This research compares the amount of COD, BOD, TSS, VSS concentration, alkalinity, pH and biogas production in 5 different reactors: the first reactor only contains tofu wastewater, the second reactor contains tofu wastewater and I. cylindrical as packed media, the third reactor contains tofu wastewater and E. crassipes as packed media, the fourth contains distilled water and I. cylindrical as packed media, the fifth contains distilled water and E. crassipes as packed media. After 14 days incubation, the results show that COD, alkalinity, and pH increased in all reactors. In the other side, BOD, TSS, VSS.
