The floating house is one of Banjarese traditional houses that are settled along the Martapura river bank. Banjarmasin -as the capital of South Kalimantan Province- is alscl known as "the City of Thousand River", that floating houses has become the icon of the city itself. The latest fact is that the conditions of those houses are not pretty good. The existence of this house needs to be explored, especially by sustainable architecture concept. This research u~es descriptive method to find out the existence of floating house by sustainable architecture concept based on theory and observation. The effort to build home that adaptable with environment is the way to defend environment support by sustainable architecture. Commonly, the sustainable building is the building with local material and natural, .respect for users, applied energy efficiency concept, respect for site, respect for ecology and minimizing new resources, and then having good flexibility. Floating house has adaptable with sustainable architecture concept and needs to defend its existence.
