Abstract
This study discusses the proposed improvement of the production line on the assembly line at the G-line. The case study was conducted at PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor. PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor is company engaged in the automotive field such as automobile and motorcycle assembly. This research was conducted on two types of cars are YLO and Y9J and just focused on the process of trimming only. One of the problems facing the company is the company is not able to achieve the desired production targets at its normal working hours. This happens because the division of workload unevenly resulting line efficiency and production capacity is not optimal. Assembly line depiction of conditions in the process of trimming is done by using the calculation of the value of the performance line. The calculation results stated value of production capacity to the current conditions of 64.4 units/day for the type of car YLO and 71.21 units/day for the type of car Y9J. Based on the root cause of these problems, so in this study the proposed application of balancing to resolve the issue. The proposal includes calculations and designing new work stations with line balancing method, the method Moodie Young, and balancing the division of tasks on the operator with full method of work. Results of a given proposal resulted in the increased value of the production capacity and the distribution of a more balanced workload between each operator. The increase in production capacity which increased from 64.4 units/day to 70.05 units/day for YLO car types and from 71.21 units/day to 78.4 units/day for the type of car Y9J.
