Isi artikel
A preliminary experiment to quantitatively analyze hydrogen has been carried out using laser-induced shock wave plasma. The strong hydrogen emission line Ha can clearly be detected with a narrow spectral width when a TEA CO2laser (500 mJ;10,6 pm; 5 Hz; 200 ns) was focused on solids samples, such as quartz, glass, gypsum, at a reduced pressure of around 1 Torr. The Ha emission line was used as sensitive analytical line for hydrogen. As a practical quantitative analysis; we have made to analyze hydrogen doped intentionally in the zirconium pipe which normally used in nuclear power stations such as a light water nuclear reactor. As a result, good linier relationship between Ha emission intensity and its content was surely observed. It was also learned that laser cleaning of the zirconium pipe surface is an important treatment prior to plasma generation in order to remove the water attached to the zirconium surface.
