Background : Holistic approach is needed in treating pulmonary tuberculosis. It is common that physicians treat patients’ physical complaints, forgetting the other aspects that matters. However, to achieve optimal outcome, treating other aspects such as psychological, social, and environmental aspects should be considered. This research is meant to describe the quality of life in pulmonary tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment in Atma Jaya Hospital, Jakarta. Objective : To describe the quality of life in pulmonary tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment in Atma Jaya Hospital, Jakarta. Methods : This research is a descriptive research involving 66 pulmonary tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment in Atma Jaya Hospital, Jakarta. Data studied consist of patients’ characteristics and their quality of life assessed using WHOQOL-BREF quality of life questionnaire. Quality of life is retrieved based on how long the patients underwent treatment. Results and Conclusion : The overall quality of life in pulmonary tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment in Atma Jaya Hospital, Jakarta is well. Physical domain is showed as the most affected domain, while environmental domain is demonstrated as the least affected domain by pulmonary tuberculosis. |
