Background: Acinetobacter baumanni is one of Gram-negative bacteria that often become a problem in the medical area. This bacterium is resistant against many types of antibiotics(multi drug resistant); thereby hindering treatment of infection. Treatment effort to cure infection caused by this bacterium is not easy. A.baumannii is frequently related to nosocomial or hospital infections. Tigecycline- sulbactam / tazobactam combination therapy has been a choice to cure Acinetobacter baumannii infection; however, its effectivity is still limited. Methods: This study is an observational retrospective study with paired categorical comparative analytical descriptive design: antibiotic tigecyclinesulbactam / tazobactam combination was given. Then, the clinical parameter changes (blood leukocyte, sputum leukocyte, lymphocyte, basophil, eosinophil, neutrophil, monocyte, C-reactive protein (CRP), lactate, procalcitonin, body temperature) were measured before and after the antibiotics giving, use medical record and analysed it. Result: 59 A. baumannii-related pneumonia patients were collected in the period of four years ( 2011-2015 ). Eleven of them were administered tigecyclineampicillin sulbactam / cefoperazone sulbactam and/or piperacillin tazobactam comb inations. There was no clinical parameter change of eight clinical parameter that shows a significant difference on the eleven subjects (p>0,05 ).Temperature shows a significant difference. The significance of CRP and lactate could not be tested due to incomplete data; meanwhile, the significance of blood leukocyte, lymphocyte, basophil, eosinophil, neutrophil, monocyte, procalcitonin, and body temperature could be tested. Conclusion: There is no significant change on blood leukocyte, blood count, procalcitonin and there is a significant change on body temperature before and after the administration of tigecycline-sulbactam / tazobactam combination on patient with A.baumannii related penumoniae. |
