Background : Diabetes mellitus or DM is an important cause for mortality and morbidity in the world. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus increased in developing countries where in the endemic tuberculosis countries. Tuberculosis or TB is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis’ patients with diabetes were proven increase mortality, had longer illness period, and big risk to reactivate tuberculosis after being declared cured. Methods : This research used cross sectional method that took medical record data of 96 patients at Atma Jaya Hospital in October – Desember 2014. Results : The result of this research showed that there was no significant difference between type 2 DM patients and patients without type 2 DM with tuberculosis cases (CI 95%, ?=0,804), correlation value was 0,000 which means no correlation between type 2 diabetes and lung tuberculosis. Conclusion : Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were not have a bigger risk to develop tuberculosis compared to patients without type 2 diabetes mellitus. |
