Abstract
Lamps are the only important equipment to provide societies lighting for the environment when needed. Reading lamp is used specifically to provide sufficient lighting when reading or studying. Yet, those reading lamps still have a few inadequacies. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to renew the reading lamp into something different in design and utilization. Consequently, SCAMPER methodology was used to explore ideas, Morphological Chart was used to find various alternatives and Pugh’s Selection Methods was used to determine the most potential design to be developed next. The prototype of heading lamp was made of acrylic and was tested by user within 17-21 years old as result of how useful and safe the reading lamp is. By testing to it, the result was concluded that the reading lamp has the ability to adjust the light depending on the environment and able to detect the distance between lamp and object. Still, this reading lamp has weakness and therefore, further study needs to be developed in bigger scope to complete the design. The cost needed to make the prototype was about IDR 691.119,-
