Abstract
Background. The academic achievement is a very important indicator for assessing student learning outcomes. Quality of sleep is considered to have a significant direct impact on academic achievement. Therefore this research will investigate the relationship between sleep quality and academic achievement.
Goal. The purpose of this research is to acknowledge the relation between sleep quality and academic achievement in class 2012 students of Faculty of Medicine Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia
Method. Research used analytic study with cross-sectional sampling method with 102 students. The sleep quality was measured by PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire and the academic achievement was measured by GPA (Grade Point Average) questionnaire.
Result. In this research, 26.5% class 2012 students of Faculty of Medicine Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia which has good sleep quality has a good academic achievement, and 34.3% students which has bad sleep quality has a bad academic achievement.
Conclusion. There is relation between sleep quality and academic achievement in class 2012 students of Faculty of Medicine Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia
Suggestion. Consider to take into account and control other factors that may affect academic achievement to reduce research bias.
