Isi artikel
On the purpose of improving the teachers’ professional competence, recently the Indonesian Government launches a new program, i.e. a program of professional education (PPE). In relation to the program, many ask what types of teaching model will be effectively applied to promote teaching professionalism. This paper is devoted to offer an alternative model, i.e. Problem Based Learning (PBL). Learners in small groups are given scenarios based on teaching observations, as the triggers to learn. The writer proposes eight stages of PBL in this context: developing prior knowledge, observing school classroom teaching and learning activities, identifying problems, analyzing problems, writing lesson plans, practicing teaching in micro teaching laboratory, practicing teaching in school classroom, and assessing the progress. These stages are done in cycles and result several tried-out teaching programs. These processes will equip the learners with the abilities of self-regulating, collaborating, and self-reflecting which are required by the teachers to develop their teaching.
