Background: Emergency department is one of the first health services in a hospital. There are several categories for emergencies, ranging from life-threatening conditions, emergency, urgent, semi-urgent and non-urgent. The incidence of life threatening case in the emergency department only amounted to about 10-20% of all patients presenting to the emergency unit, with an estimated 5-10% of all emergency department patients are pediatric patients. Emergency care for children have their own specifications because the handling and treatment which available in emergency department are commonly for adults, not for children. Treatment for children is different from adults, so the emergency department need to give special attention for child emergency cases. Methods: The design of this research is the categorical descriptive study conducted retrospective. Samples taken in this study were all pediatric patients who had been treaten in emergency department in Atma Jaya Hospital for the period march 2013 to march 2015. Result: The most common case happening in emergency department from that period is gastroenteritis with a total of 521 cases. Similarly, in the age group of early infancy, late infancy and toddler, gastroenteritis is a common case. While in the age group of preschool and school age, fever is the most common case. Vulnus laceratum is a common case in the age group of adolescence. A total of 39,9% of all visits are classified as emergency cases and 60,09% of all visits are a non-emergency cases. With the percentage of 31,26% in the first session, 44,89% in the second session and 31,26% in the third sessions. Conclusion: Gastroenteritis is the most common cases that occur in the emergency department in Atma Jaya Hospital from march 2013 to march 2015, with 39,9% of all visits are classified as emergency cases and 60,09% of all visits are a non-emergency cases.
