Indra Penglihatan Survey by the Ministry of Health in 1996 reported that refractive errors ranks third as a leading cause of blindness in Indonesia after cataract ( 0.78 % ) and glaucoma (0.20 % ) .2 Refractive errors are optical imperfection so the light do not focus precisely on the retina causing blurred vision . According to Dirjen BUK , the prevalence of refractive errors are 22.1% of the total population .3 Methods : The design of this research is descriptive research with cross sectional categorical approachment. The sample is the entire class of 2012 medical student in Atma jaya University. Data obtained using a questionnaire designed by the author and the data processed using Statistics Programme for Social Science ( SPSS ) version 21 . Result : Of the 66 respondents who filled out questionnaires obtained myopia (40.9%) , astigmatism (33.3%) and the rest is normal . The highest degree of myopia are mild myopia (70.4%) and highest degree of astigmatism is moderate astigmatism (59.1%) . Family history (p = 0.190) and nearwork vision seen through the duration of reading or using gadgets in a day (p = 0.251) and bad personal habits like reading while lying down (p = 0.282) were not obtained significant results in myopia. Conclusion : There is no significant result between family history and the nearwork vision factor with myopia.
