This study is intended to examine the effects of optimizing the five academic skills in preparing IBT-TOEFL to increase the academic achievements of university students. The five academic skills consist of speed reading, note taking, paraphrasing, summarizing, and synthesizing, in which to be the keys of academic success. Sharpe (2007) used these skills for preparing IBT-TOEFL that introduces the combination between the study of standard excellent mastery of English proficiency and the use of Technology, which are very important tools to all aspects of life. Optimizing the academic skills means implementing the Bloom’s Taxonomy theory, which deals with achieving the educational objectives, in the best way. Thus, optimizing these five academic skills in preparing IBT-TOEFL is optimizing to apply domains and dimensions of cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and knowledge in Academic English language skills. This is a quantitative research that accomplishes the task by performing an experimental research design. It refers to the cause of optimizing the five academic skills in preparing IBT-TOEFL that might have a positive and significant effect in increasing the academic achievements. The treatments of the experimental group consist of five academic skills: 1) speed reading, which consists of speed reading and comprehension; 2) note taking, which consists of organizing the notes, identifying important information, taking notes quickly; 3) paraphrasing, which consists of choosing synonyms for words, using alternative grammatical structure, citing expressions and ideas; 4) summarizing, which consists of condensing the ideas, identifying the main points, reporting the information; 5) synthesizing, which consists of identifying themes and connection, selecting information from both sources, and following a plan. The research problem is: “What percentage does optimizing the five academic skills in preparing IBT-TOEFL contribute to increase the academic achievements of University students? The Hypothesis is optimizing the five academic skills contributes 80% to the academic achievements. The analyses of the data are using multiple linear regressions in which the data are processed by means of the Statistical Package Social Sciences. The finding of this study indicates that the hypothesis is accepted, it has proved that 92.6% of the academic achievement increases are caused by the five academic skills increases. The conclusion is that the five academic skills are the most effective skills that should be applied to the teaching learning process, especially in English.
