This paper is intended to discuss a research based proposal on how to revitalize EAP (English for Academic Purposes) courses in Indonesian context. This idea is based on three different related research findings on ESP I did along the year of 2004-2009. The main result shows that the basic problem of EAP programs in Indonesia should be solved through revitalizing some aspects, namely the EAP course design, the needs analysis, the teaching material, the proffesionalism of the EAP teachers, and issuing EAP division in TEFLIN. To discuss these idea, this paper is divided into four main parts. The first part deals with the presentation of the underlying principles of the proposal, the basic concepts of EAP. The discussion of the present status of EAP in Indonesian context to which the proposal originate will be the next parts. The proposal for revitalizing EAP programs in Indonesian context will be discussed in the next part. At last, the writer presents his short conclusion.
