Abstract
Background : Eating disorder is a condition characterized by persistent disturbances in eating and eating related behaviors. Prevalence of eating disorders has increased more than twice in a span of ten years. The existence of eating disorders in children may impair physical growth and mental development.
Methods: This research is a cross-sectional research conducted on 341 students in the 4th-6th grade of Permai elementary school in North Jakarta.. Participants were given a demographic questionnaire and Children’s Eating Attitude Test. Data was analyzed univariately (descriptively). Result : There were 7% of students at risk of eating disorders, found in 5 % of the girls and 2 % of the boys and 2.6 % found in students aged 10 years and 3.8 % in the 4th grade students .
Conclusion : Eating disorder risk in children at Permai elementary school in North Jakarta was approximately 7% and was found more in girls than boys.
