Isi artikelBackground. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the bacteria caus-ing nosocomial infections with high morbidity and mortality. Therefore, a hospital surveillance of MRSA infection is required. Objective. Objective of the study is to determine the incidence of MRSA infection and its influencing factors. Methods. Observational retrospective study has been done to analyze secondary data. The subject of study are patients who suffer from S. aureus infection, identified in laboratory of Clinical Pathology Dr. Sardjito hospital start from June 2002 up to December 2003. Data is analyzed with Chi-square or Fisher's exact to test the proportion of MRSA infection in each variable, influence factors, and relative risk. Results. Seventy-eight clinical isolates of S. aureus are found but only 75 data available for analysis. Nineteen subjects (24,4%) are infected with MRSA. There is no influence factors are found. Conclusion. The incidence of MRSA infection is 24.4%. There is no a significant risk factor can influence the incidence of MRSA infection.
