Background: Indonesia is a tropical developing country. This condition makes infection disease, such as dengue and chikungunya uncontrolable. Aedes aegypti mosquito is the main vector of it. We can control the vector by using biolarvacide. This research used Vetiveria zizanioides’ root extract as biolarvacide to kill A. aegypti larva.
Methods: This is an experimental research with one group before and after intervention design. The number of larva was 20 for each experiment. The testing concentrations were 3000 ppm, 4000 ppm, 5000 ppm, 6000 ppm, and 7000 ppm which was observed at 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour, 5 hour, 6 hour, and 24 hour after intervention.
Results: There is a significant difference of the lethal effect in the different concentration which p=0,016 (p<0,05), and in the different intervention time which p=0,000 (p<0,05). 100% lethal effect in the first hour of intervention is in 6000 ppm.
Conclusions: The root extract of V. zizanioides has lethal effect as biolarvacide against A. aegypti larva. The higher concentration and the longer intervention time can cause the larger number of the lethal effect. |
