Abstract
Background : Obesity is a condition where the amount of energy that goes into our bodies is imbalance with the required amount that needed by our body to functioning everyday that happens in a long time and can occur in all age.1According to RISKESDAS in 2013, the prevalence of fat children around 13 – 15 years old in Indonesia is 10,8%, consisting of 8,3% fat and 2,5% are very fat (obese)
Methods :This method using descriptive analytical categoric with cross sectional approach to all students of Permai Pluit Junior High School. Samples that being used is the samples with normal and obese status. Assessment of Nutritional Knowldege and Parent’s Characteristic were measured using a questionnare and for Body Mass Index (BMI) was measured using Height and Weight measuring device which is converted using CDC’s curve after that.23
Result : Respondents percentage which is obese at Permai Junior High School is 18,21% from all the taken respondents. There was no significant difference between nutritional knowledge and nutritional status (p = 0759). There’s also no relationship between characteristics of the parents and the nutritional status (mother's educationp = 0.807, father's education p = 0.203, mother's occupationp = 0.627, father's occupation p = 0.151)
Conclusion : The level of respondent’s nutritional knowledge. Respondent’s parent’s occupation are not related to the nutritional status of respondents in Permai Pluit Junior High School. Respondent’s parent’s last educational level are not related to the nutritional status of respondents in Permai Pluit Junior High School.
